Carers may need to have a break from their caring role, to give them a rest, a holiday, or just time for themselves. This is often called 'respite'. Respite can take many forms, and what may suit one person may not suit another.
Different types of respite are available.
Respite could be provided in a residential unit. This could be owned and run by the local authority or by private or voluntary organisations.
